PERO – Frank, 87, Davidsville, died Oct. 26, 2015, at Laurel View Village. Born Dec. 13, 1927, in Maple Ridge, son of John and Annie (Kundrat) Pero. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Helen Golembeski, Elizabeth O’Neil and Margaret Baraniak; and brothers, John and Michael Pero. Survived by wife of 61 years, Mary (Strank) Pero; children, Frank, married to Tairys (Delgado), Tampa, Fla.; Annette, married to Ken Fridey, Plano, Texas; Kathleen, married to Douglas Price, Fairfax, Va.; and Thomas, married to Marie (Collevecchio), Harleysville; grandchildren, Nicholas Valentine; Kelly (Fridey) and husband Evan Sides; Trent Fridey; and Adriana, Thomas and Angela Pero; brother, Henry Pero, Maple Ridge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was a 1946 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After 43 years of service, he retired from Pennsylvania Electric Co., where he started as tree trimmer and worked his way to lineman then foreman and finally as supervisor of the line department. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Benscreek. Also a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Amperes and the Greater Johnstown Woodcarvers. Frank’s favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, doing crossword puzzles and wood carving. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where vigil for the deceased will be held Wednesday afternoon. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Father Angelo J. Patti, celebrant. Committal, Grandview Cemetery, with military honors by Menoher Post 155 VFW.
