Virginia P.  Gindlesperger (Blough)
GINDLESPERGER – Virginia P. (Blough), 95, formerly of Soap Hollow Road, Johnstown, died Oct. 13,2014, at Golden Living Center, Johnstown. Born July 25, 1919, in Thomas Mills, daughter of Stephen and Effie (Sala) Blough. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 54 years, H. Merle “Shorty” Gindlesperger, on June 30, 1991; daughter, Audrey Yoder; an infant sister; sisters, Betty Shaffer, Margaret Updyke and Beatrice Eash; twin brother, Virgil Blough; and son-in-law, Robert Thomas. Survived by children, Donna Jean Thomas, Hollsopple; Dwight “Whitey,” and wife, Linda, Tire Hill; Frank, and wife, Louise, Windber; Darwin, and wife, Donna, Johnstown; and Dwynell, married to Allen “Butch” Boyer, Hollsopple; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Almeda Lohr, Jenner Township; and Martha Beener, Somerset; brother, Franklin Blough, and wife, Mona, Davidsville; son-in-law, Carlton Yoder, Davidsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. An active member of Stahl Mennonite Church, where she and her husband were custodians for many years and Virginia was a member of Stahl Friendly Circle Quilters. She enjoyed listening to Christian music, reading, quilting and sewing. She valued her family and church above all else. Her passions were to be a useful Christian person and to love and help everyone. Her dreams were to see her children and grandchildren grow up to be useful citizens. Because of her faith in Christ, Virginia feared nothing. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Living Center and AseraCare Hospice for all their care and compassion for Virginia. Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at Stahl Mennonite Church, Pastor Michael A. Dunlap and Pastor Bob Brown, presiding.
