Winifred L. "Winnie"  Williams (Hunt)
WILLIAMS – Winifred “Winnie” Louise (Hunt), 96, Laurel View Village, Davidsville, formerly of Johnstown, died Oct. 24, 2014, at her home. Born March 29, 1918, in Johnstown, daughter of Chester G. and Althea P. (Blough) Hunt. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 66 years, John L. Williams; and brother, Robert Chester Hunt. Survived by daughter, Judy Ann, married to Robert K. Grumbling, Point Pleasant, W.Va.; granddaughter, Amye (Grumbling), married to John Straley, Milton, W.Va.; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Jayden. Also survived by her very dear nieces and nephews. A 1936 graduate of Johnstown High School. Attended Cambria-Rowe Business School. Formerly employed as an accountant at SMS Furniture Barn. Assistant to the personnel director at the former Glosser Brothers Department Store. Assistant manager of the sportswear department at JB Wells Department Store, Utica, N.Y. Did volunteer work at the former Lee Hospital, Laurel View Village, Lutheran Home at Johnstown for 10 years and many years at First Lutheran Church, Johnstown, where she was a member for 72 years. Past member of Windber Country Club, Sunnehanna Country Club and Myree Country Club, Fort Myers, Fla. Also a past member of Century Club at Laurel View Village and Women’s Christian Association in Fort Myers and Johnstown. In her spare time, Winnie enjoyed painting landscapes, golfing and interior decorating. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Laurel View Village Chapel with Pastor Nelson Ilgenfritz and Pastor Jeffrey Bassette presiding. A private interment service will be held at Grandview Mausoleum.
