Life Story for William A. Pugh

PUGH-William A. Pugh, 95, Laurel View Village, Davidsville, formerly ofEbensburg and Jerome, died May 31, 2014, at the village. Born April 9,1919, in Frank, Pa., son of Joseph and Maude (Beard) Pugh. Preceded in
death by parents, and brother, Col. Delmar Pugh. Survived by wife,former Josephine “Jo” Mastrocola; daughter, Cindy, married to Al Dybeck, Pittsburgh; and sister, Avon, widow of Samuel English, Louisville, Kentucky. U.S. Marine Corps gunnery sergeant during World War II, having participated in action against the Japanese on Iwo Jima, and later served with the Occupation Forces in Japan. Retired labor arbitrator for Bethlehem Mines. Volunteer at Memorial Medical Center for many years. Avid golfer. Member of Jerome Post 802 American Legion; Hollsopple Post 8861 VFW; and Summit Lodge 0312, F&AM, Ebensburg. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where service will be geld at 11 a.m. Thursday, Pastor Wes Yoder, officiating. Interment, Maple Spring Cemetery, near Jerome, with graveside military rites accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu flowers, memorials may be given to Mary Grace Foundation, Interim Hospice, 322 Warren St., Suite 270, Johnstown, PA 15905, or Humane Society of Somerset County, P.O.
