Life Story for Robert J. "Froggy" Reeves

Robert J. "Froggy"  Reeves
REEVES – Robert J. “Froggy,” 82, Davidsville, formerly of Confluence, died March 27, 2010, at Laurel View Village. Born March 20, 1928, in Gray, son of Dewey and Pearl (Boyer) Reeves. Preceded in death by parents; grandson, Shawn Michael Rush; and sister, Henrietta Suder. Survived by wife of 59 years, the former Collene D. Sann; children, Linda, married to Roger Spoerlein, Somerset; Ferd, married to the former Pamela Casey, Owensboro, Ky.; Robin, married to Michael Rush, Rockwood; and Kevin, California, Pa.; grandchildren, Jason Spoerlein, and wife, Aimee; Dr. Jenny (Spoerlein), married to Joseph Comer; Jared Robert Spoerlein; Paige Reeves; and Jeremy and Scott Rush; great-grandson, Aiden Robert Reeves; and sisters, Margaret Lytle, Virginia; and Fay Younkin, Confluence. A graduate of the former Confluence High School. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Retired rural mail carrier for Confluence and Fort Hill post offices. Also a former World Book Encyclopedia salesman and manager. Member of St. David’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davidsville, and was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Confluence. Also a member of Somerset County Old Timers Baseball Association. He and Collene enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states and most of Canada. He was quite a handy man who was able to fix just about anything. Bob was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother, who always put his family first. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Laurel View Village for their kindness and compassion during Bob’s illness. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Laurel View Village Chapel, Pastor Wes Yoder, presiding. Friends will be received immediately following the service during a dinner at the Laurel View Village dining room. Private inurnment will be held at Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be sent to Laurel View Village Caring Fund, 2000 Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, Pa. 15928.
