Life Story for Joylene H. Whipkey (Ream)

WHIPKEY– Joylene H. (Ream), 83, Ligonier, formerly of Jenner Township, died Aug. 1, 2014, at Bethlen Home, Ligonier. Born Jan. 18, 1931, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, daughter of George Cleve and Alice (Wagner) Ream. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 55 years, Chester Dale, on Sept. 13, 2005; an infant daughter; grandson, Christopher M. Hill; and brothers, Drue, Donald, Kenneth, Nevin and Jimmy Ream. Survived by children, Jimmy D., married to Robin (Campbell), Richmond, Va.; Keith A., and his companion, Vanya Petrova; Wanda W. Hill; and Lori B., married to Keith Keslar, all of Ligonier; grandchildren, Jason Whipkey, and wife, Jamie; Kristie, married Christopher Weinhold; Jenny, married to Jeffrey Goswick; Brandon Strayer, and wife, Lora; Tony Keslar; and DiDi and Mirela Popova; great-grandchildren, Carter Strayer, Zoey Hill, Letty and MiaLeah Goswick and Adele and Ethan Whipkey; brother, Clyde Ream, Sumter, S.C.; sister, Wanda, married to Vic Wheeler, Jennerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1948 graduate of Boswell High School. Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown, where she was a member of the Knotty Ladies quilting group. Joylene enjoyed spending time performing volunteer work in the community. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with Pastor Traci Bowman presiding.
