Life Story for Elaine J. Maggs (Holsopple)

Elaine J.  Maggs (Holsopple)
MAGGS – Elaine J. (Holsopple), 94, formerly of Ridge Road, Hooversville, died Jan. 30, 2014, at Church of the Brethren Home. Born June 19, 1919, in Hooversville, daughter of Bruce and Martha (Brubaker) Holsopple. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 63 years, William, who died April 15, 2009; brothers, Maurice, Donald, Richard and Charles; and sister, Emma Dietrich. Survived by daughter, Gail M. Markferding, Davidsville; son, William David Maggs, married to Christine (Solecki), Davidsville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Markferding), married to Glen Donaldson, Doylestown, Pa.; and Damian Markferding, and fiancee, Jamie Doliveira, Duncansville; great-grandchildren, Paige Donaldson, Madyn Markferding and Grant Donaldson; sister, Verna Thomas, Thomas Mills; sisters-in-law, Hazel Holsopple, Somerset; Janet Domonkos, Johnstown; Ida Mae, married to George Ellis, El Paso, Texas; and Betty Greig, Hooversville; brother-in-law, Jack Maggs, married to Ruth Wain, Hooversville; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A graduate of Shade High School and lifetime member St. Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served on the Grove committee cooking meals for various occasions. She was chairwoman for Somerset County Republican Party and served on the board of directors for Hooversville Historical Society. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, making candy and babysitting her two grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Church, Pastor Nila Cogan, officiating. Interment, Custer Cemetery. Memorials to St. Thomas Church, 1493 Ridge Road, Hooversville, Pa. 15936, would be appreciated.
