Life Story for Dwight W. Shetler

SHETLER – Dwight W., 89, Windber, formerly of Bedford and Benscreek, died April 5, 2010, at Select Specialty Care. Born Oct. 18, 1920, in Johnstown, son of Daniel and Lucy (Weaver) Shetler. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Erma Alwin; and brother, the Rev. Clayton Shetler. Survived by wife of 68 years, the former Gladys Ball; sons, Daniel, and wife, Susan, Johnstown; and D. Wayne, and wife, Suzanne, Columbus; grandchildren, Daniel Shetler, Windber, and his special friend, Arynne Moody, York; Stephanie Shetler, and her fiance, Joe Berg, Pittsburgh; Lori, married to Andreas Ernfridsson, Columbus, Ohio; and Brian Shetler, and wife, Laura Grady, Brooklyn, N.Y.; great-grandson, Andrew Ernfridsson; and sister, Ruth Shetler, Soap Hollow; also numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a truck driver for Miller Block, Centre Concrete and Zucco Trucking and a member of Teamsters Union. Dwight enjoyed being outdoors camping, hunting, fishing and gardening. Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Rob Rummel presiding.
