Atwood J. "Woody"  Lucas
LUCAS – Atwood J. “Woody,” 79, Gray, died Nov. 15, 2013, at In Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born May 16, 1934, in Mount Storm, W.Va., son of James T. and Mabel E. (Rotruck) Lucas. Preceded in death by parents and wife of 54 years, Helen F. (Deist). Survived by sons, Timothy, married to Beverly (Schech), Berlin; and J. Scott, married to Sharon (Quesada), Remington, Va.; grandchildren, Amy and Holly Lucas, Jennifer Bebout and Justin Scott; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends, including Stephanie and Linda. A 1952 graduate of JBJ Joint High School, Boswell. A U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War. Former employee of Newberry’s Dept. Store, Somerset, Sherwin Williams, Boswell Lumber Co. and McCurdy’s Hardware, Berlin. He also was owner of Lucas Grocery, Gray. Member of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Somerset, where he served on the church council. Also a member of Poage Lodge 325 F&AM, Ashland, Ky.; and Jenner Rod & Gun Club. He served on Jenner Area Joint Sewer Authority, North Star School Board and Gray Area Water Authority. Woody enjoyed fishing, reading westerns and spending time with family and friends. A private service and interment at Christ Casebeer Cemetery will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Boswell.
