Obituary for Jesse L. Shroyer
SHROYER - Jesse L., 77, Boswell, died November 8, 2016 at his home. Born November 1, 1939 in Johnstown. Son of Jesse D. and Elnora E. (Fuller) Shroyer. Preceded in death by parents; brothers Richard W., Russell S. and Herbert R. Shroyer. Survived by wife of 48 years Joan F. (Deist) Shroyer; daughters Barbara married to David Moyer, Hollsopple and Deborah married to Terry Peterson, Boswell; granddaughters Karlee and Jessica Moyer and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1959 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School. A U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam War. He was a coal miner having retired from RoxCoal, Inc. and a member of Horner Lutheran Church, Jenner Rod & Gun Club, Jerome Sportsmen and UMWA. Jesse was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved being in the woods and spending time in his garden. He spent as much time as he could at his hunting club, The Alamo, that he and his brothers helped their father build. He was a devoted husband, loving father and doting and proud grandfather. His granddaughters brought him so much joy and he was their best friend. He will be sadly and lovingly missed by his family and all those who loved him. A private family viewing and service will be held. Interment Horner-Mt. Tabor Cemetery with military honors by Somerset County Honor Guard. Arrangements by Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Boswell. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jesse’s memory may be sent to Horner Lutheran Church, 415 Horner Church Road, Stoystown, PA 15563.
