Robert C.   Shaffer
SHAFFER – Robert C., 90, Richland Township, formerly of Jenner Township and Menoher Heights, went to be with his Lord Jan. 23, 2016, at In-Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born July 16, 1925, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, son of William and Mary (Berkey) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; first wife of 42 years, Jean O. (Huster) Shaffer, in 1990; brothers, William and Lee Shaffer and Paul Georg; sisters, Margaret Hemminger, Helen DeArmey, Lois Lohr, Florence Rose-Sofaly and Daryle Bittner; and stepson, Ronald Negrey. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by beloved wife of 22 years, Gloria Negrey-Shaffer; children, Barbara, married to John Mish, Davidsville; Kathy, married to Thomas Magyar; Harry, married to Patricia (Moss); Sherry, married to Randy Hoffman; and David, married to Suzanne (Gontis), all of Jenner Township; stepchildren, Sharon, married to James Ambrose, Johnstown; Randy Negrey, and wife, Linda, Warrenton, Va.; and Jeff Negrey, and wife, Karen, Salisbury, Md.; grandchildren, Lori Robinet; Barry Mish; Kara Burget; Carly Mansour; Mark Shaffer; Jonathan Shaffer; Jamie Beahr; William Shaffer; Jacob Hoffman; Chelsey Stern; Mary Beth Philburn; and Levi, Denver, Clayton and Clarissa Shaffer; step-grandchildren, Christopher Ambrose and Jennifer Blough; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Mariellen, Caleb, Olivia, Claudia, Cole, Audrey, Maxwell, Brayden, Ashton, Andrew, Owen, Claire, Evelyn, Camille, Garrett, Chase, Tymber, Westlee, Lane and Moreah; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Brady and Rosalie. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. For the majority of his life Bob worked on the family farm in Jenner Township. He also worked for O.D. Barnett, Jenner Crossroads. He had a great love of music and sang where ever he went. He was a soloist at all of his children’s and most of his grandchildren’s weddings. Bob enjoyed showing his horses and mentored many young people, training them in horsemanship. In his later years, he enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his wife. Member of the IOOF Alma Lodge 523 and Bethany United Methodist Church, Johnstown. Former member of Jennerstown and Centennial United Methodist churches. The family would like to thank Interim Hospice for all their excellent care. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Larry G.
