Obituary for Betty Jane Barnick (Adams)

BARNICK - Betty Jane (Adams), 89, Barnick Road, Jenner Township, died Oct. 17, 2015, at The Patriot, Somerset, after a brief stay. Born Feb. 11, 1926, in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County, daughter of George G. and Myrtle A. (Coughenour) Adams. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 64 years, John L., Dec. 12, 2012; brothers, Ralph and Paul Adams; and sisters, Mae Kimmel, Leona Friedline and Janet Riposo. Survived by children, D. Sue, married to Robert R. Berkey; Larry J., married to Carol Bumbarger; and Dennis E., married to Deborah Lehman, all of Jenner Township; and Debbie J. Schaefer, St. Francis, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Faye, married to Jack Miller, Kimmelton; sisters-in-law, Lois Adams, Ebensburg; Marjorie Barnick, Jenner Township; and Annabelle Barnick, Jennerstown; and numerous nieces, nephews and other in-laws. Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown; Pennsylvania Farm Bureau; AARP; and Somerset Ambulance Association. Former bookkeeper for Barnick Farms. For the past year, son, Larry and daughter-in-law, Carol had been Betty’s loving caregivers. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Laurel Trinity Church, Pastor Traci Bowman, officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
