Charles I. "Jughead"  Turney
TURNEY – Charles I. “Jughead,” 84, Johnstown, formerly of Boswell, died May 10,2015, at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 16, 1930, in Ralphton, son of James and Violet (Pugh) Turney. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 54 years, Helen (Cottle) Turney, on March 17, 2005; brother, Robert Turney; sisters, Edna, Verna and Patricia Turney, Ethel Lohr and Sara Leventry. Survived by daughters, Linda, married to Dennis Troy, Cranberry Township; Cindy, married to Christopher Marlowe; and Debbie Hill, both of Johnstown; grandchildren, Master Sergeant USAF Keith Troy, and wife, Lisa; Kristy, married to Nathan Brainard; Melissa, married to Joseph Hall; William Marlowe; Jared Truscott, and friend, Evelyn; and Robyn, married to Don Taylor; great-grandchildren, Eric and Brianna Troy, Kylie and Madison Kelly, Dane Taylor and Houston Hall; sister, Violet Benford, Rockwood; brother, John Turney, and wife, Eva, Bradenville; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1947 graduate of Boswell High School. Retired employee of U.S. Steel Corp., Johnstown. Member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Boswell, and attended Liberty Grace Brethren Church, Johnstown. Former member of Somerset Lodge 358, F&AM. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and bird watching. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jughead especially enjoyed time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He also loved good conversation and being around people. Viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, Pastor Doug Black and Pastor Michael Dunlap, presiding. Interment, Horner-Mt.Tabor Cemetery. Donations in Charles' memory may be made to North Star Youth Outreach, 320 Allegheny St., Boswell, Pa. 15531, or Horner-Mt.
