ROSE-SOFALY – Florence M., (Shaffer), 84, Somerset, formerly of Jennerstown, died March 20, 2015, at Somerset Hospital. Born June 6, 1930, in Johnstown, daughter of William W. Sr. and Mary B. (Berkey) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; first husband, Leslie G. Rose, on April 4, 1980; second husband, Francis J. “Frank” Sofaly, on March 30, 2003; brothers, Paul, William Jr. and Lee; sisters, Lois Lohr, Daryle Bittner, Helen DeArmey and Margaret Hemminger; and nephew, Kenneth Lohr. Survived by children, James L. Rose, married to Joanne Thompson, Colorado; and Joann R., married to William “Gabo” Stoppe, and Leslie N. Rose, married to Carmen Jarvis, both of Jenner Township; eight grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Lisa Stoppe; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert, and wife, Gloria, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1948 graduate of the former Boswell High School. Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. Was hard working and had many jobs, including 10 years at the former Dorfman and Hoffman Garment Factory. Also cleaned offices at G.M. & W. Coal Co. and was an attendant at the North Center Laundromat, Somerset. Enjoyed holidays and birthdays, but her greatest pleasure was cooking special family dinners. Hobbies included reading, working puzzles, listening to music, shopping, taking walks and eating out with friends and family. Florence was very humorous and kindhearted and always ready to help those in need. Viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Laurel Trinity Church, Pastor Traci Bowman officiating. Interment, Lutheran Cemetery, Jennerstown.
