John F.  Hammer
HAMMER – John F., 94, Hollsopple, died March 20, 2015, at Country Manor Living, Jerome. Born Nov. 22, 1920, at his family farm in Jenner Township, son of Winfield Scott and Mary Ellen (Grasser) Hammer. Preceded in death by parents; brother, James; sisters, Mary Ellen College-Hillegas and Alice Hammer; granddaughter, Cayla Hammer; and son-in-law, Thomas Trevorrow. Survived by wife of nearly 70 years, June (Warner) Hammer; daughter, Emma Trevorrow, Hollsopple; and son, John, married to Pamela (Hershberger) Hammer, Hollsopple; grandchildren, Thomas Trevorrow Jr., and wife, April; Misty, married to Cory Widmar; Caitlyn, married to Michael Hegadus; and Travis, and fiancee, Lauryn; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Cheyanne, Sierra, Izabel and Lucas; stepsister, Eva “Mae” (Saylor), widow of Butch Felix, Hollsopple; sisters-in-law, Delores “Dolly” Hammer, Silver Spring, Md., and Pat, married to Bud McKinley, Johnstown; brother-in-law, James Webb, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of Johnstown High School. He then worked at the family farm and ran a coal trucking business. Former employee of Arrow Furniture, Johnstown; Sheesley Supply, Johnstown; M.C. Trucking, Seward; and Trevdeck Construction, Hollsopple. Member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Benscreek, and Senior Serenaders, Johnstown. Volunteer for Johnstown Senior Center. John also enjoyed hunting, traveling and spending time with family. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday afternoon. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Angelo J. Patti, celebrant. Committal in John’s family cemetery.
