RAUCH – Leonard I. Sr., 92, Laurel View Village, formerly of Upper Yoder Township, died Jan. 23, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 18, 1922, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, son of Leroy and Fannie (Speicher) Rauch. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 63 years, Margaret E. (Kimmel) Rauch, on Feb. 20, 2013; and sister-in-law, Emma Lou Rauch. Survived by children, Leonard I. Jr., Johnstown; Connie J., married to Vincent J. Schneider, Upper Yoder; Robert L., and friend, Lenore Beck, Johnstown; and Linda, married to Chris Howard, Upper Yoder; grandchildren, Jason Rauch, and wife, Corinne, Ashburn, Va.; Gretchen Rauch, Johnstown; Courtney, married to Robert Smith, Johnstown; Carey, married to Ryan Chiodo, Westmont; and James P.K. Bruce, Brownstown; great-grandchildren, Bradley and Wesley Smith and Damian and Dominic Chiodo; and brothers, John Rauch, Davidsville, and Donald Rauch, and wife, Shirley, Alabama. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater on the Mediterranean Sea. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Retired design engineer for U.S. Steel Corp, Johnstown. Member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Moxham, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, deacon and elder. Leonard enjoyed gardening and tending to his fruit trees and berry bushes. He also enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. Viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Church, with the Rev. William Thwing presiding. Interment, Beam Cemetery, Gray.
