Velma L.  Goden (Stone)
GODEN – Velma L. (Stone), 91, The Patriot, Somerset, formerly of Boswell, died Jan. 18, 2015, at In-Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born Jan. 8, 1924, in Houtzdale, daughter of Roy and Katherine (Martin) Stone. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 56 years, Samuel L. Goden, on June 12, 2003; sisters, Della, Eleanor, Hannah and Emma; brothers, Albert and Howard; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Sechler. Survived by daughters, Kathryn, married to Jack Scott, Buchanan, Mich., and Wynne Sechler, Somerset; grandchildren, Jill (Scott), married to Brian Gundlock, Niles, Mich.; Samuel Scott, married to Pamela (Reed), Indianapolis, Ind.; Melanie (Sechler), married to Michael Downing, Oil City; Amy (Sechler), married to Adam Zuccolotto, Stoystown; and Mitzi (Sechler), married to Ryan Grove, Greencastle; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Charles J. Downing, Jack and Wesley Gundlock and Emilee Grove; sister, Marjorie, married to Richard Albright, Brisbane; numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful pet companions, Cece and Blue. A graduate of Houtzdale High School. Employee of former Dorfman & Hoffman Garment Factory, Boswell. Former volunteer for Helping Hands Food Pantry, Boswell, for 25 years. Member of Boswell Church of God. Velma enjoyed spending time in her vegetable garden. She also enjoyed baking and was especially known for her bread and sweet rolls and always having a pot of coffee ready for her guests. The family would like to thank the staff of The Patriot and In-Touch Hospice for all the loving care given to Velma and the family. Viewing from 11 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell Rev. Dr. Dennis Godin, presiding.
