Life Story for Violet Marie Shaffer-Eastlake (Snyder)

SHAFFER-EASTLAKE – Violet Marie (Snyder), 90, Hidden Valley Road, Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, died July 22, 2014, at Windber Hospital. Born Feb. 8, 1924, in Acme, Westmoreland County, daughter of Irvin and Anna (Lankey) Snyder. Preceded in death by parents; first husband, Herbert H. Shaffer, in 1974; second husband, Ralph Eastlake, in 1996; granddaughter, Betsy Eppley; infant grandson, Joshua Eppley; four sisters; and six brothers. Survived by children, Cathie Ann, married to David Eppley; Herbert Larry “Butch,” married to Linda Eppley; and Connie Lee, married to Thomas Hutchinson, all of Conemaugh Township; and Debbie L., married to Russell Jackson, Ligonier; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Member of Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, where she formerly taught Sunday school and Bible school. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Pastor Gary W. Anderson, officiating. Interment, Thomas Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials to Laurel Hill Church may be sent to Pastor Anderson, 412 Allegheny St., Boswell, Pa. 15531.
