Life Story for Reda P. Kaufman (Alwine)

Reda P.  Kaufman (Alwine)
KAUFMAN - Reda P. (Alwine) Kaufman, 93, Boswell RD, went home to be with her Lord and Savior July 11, 2014, at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. Born Nov. 30, 1920, in Conemaugh Township, daughter of the late John and Pearl (Thomas) Alwine. On April 8, 1939, she married Richard J. Kaufman Sr. who died Nov. 8, 1986. She is also preceded in death by brother Walter Alwine, sisters: Mary Alwine, Leora Kauffman, Naomi Holsopple, Amy Cable and Ivie Short; and daughter-in-law Marilynn (Woy) Kaufman. Survived by children: Verna married to Harvey Horner Sr., Rachel Horner, Richard Jr. ”Junior” married to Deb (Fritz), Ellis married to Shirleen (Eash), all of Boswell RD, and Allen married to Gloria (Gindlesperger), Friedens; grandchildren: Harvey Jr., Linda, James, Brian, Sherri, Douglas, Michael, Andrew, Jeffrey, Justin and Janna; great-grandchildren: Renee, Cody, Josh, Rebecca, Ryan, Daniel, Cole, Brent, Aaron, Luke, Rayne, Laura, Nick and Alex; and great-great-grandchildren: Madison, Lily and Taylor; sisters Edna Kauffman and Ida married to Sam Holsopple, brother Lowell Alwine married to Bernice (Yoder), and brother-in-law H. Ray Gindlesperger. A lifelong member of Thomas Mennonite Church, where she and Richard Sr. were summer Bible School coordinators for many years and she was loyal to her quilting group, as long as health permitted. Reda faithfully helped Richard Sr. on the farm and enjoyed reading and gardening. She will be missed by her family, but it’s comforting to know she will forever be with her heavenly family. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Tuesday at Thomas Mennonite Church with Pastors Wayne Lasure, Wes Yoder and Randall Schlabach presiding. Interment Thomas Mennonite Cemetery.
