Life Story for Richard C. Ely

Richard C.  Ely
ELY – Richard C., 82, Jenner Township, Somerset County, died July 2, 2014, at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 29, 1931, in Hightstown, N.J., son of J. Addison and Anna (Cubberley) Ely. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Joseph A. Ely. Survived by wife, the former Lynette Friedline; brother, Robert Ely, and wife, Carolyn, North Carolina; brother-in-law Lowell Friedline and wife Carna, Jenner Township and numerous other relatives. Army veteran of the Korean War. He attended George Washington University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in geology. He was owner of Ely & French Geological Services for many years. Among Dick’s many interests and associations includes the advisory board of Pennsylvania 4-H horse program, Pennsylvania Council on therapeutic horsemanship and the Somerset County Planning Commission. Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hoffman Lutheran Church, Jenner Township, Pastor David L. Bowman, officiating. Interment, church cemetery.
