Obituary for Victor L. Wheeler

WHEELER – Victor L., 89, Jennerstown, went to be with the Lord May 9, 2022 at his home. Born June 2, 1932 in Stoystown. Son of Lester “Banjo” and Helen (Escherich) Wheeler. Preceded in death by parents; son, Eric Wheeler; brother, Allen Wheeler; sister Joyce Kennedy and long-time friend, Jerry “Shermie” Walters. Survived by loving wife of 65 years, Wanda F. (Ream) Wheeler; son, Craig of Jennerstown; daughter, Roxanne married to Gordon Daniel of Dillsburg; grandchildren, Ashlynn (Wheeler) married to Christian Wilkin and Amanda and Adam Daniel; sisters, Tanis married to Robert Lepley of Muncy and Penny married to Wayne Wiltrout of Stoystown; sister-in-law Eva Wheeler of Jenners and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Vic was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired employee of U.S. Steel, Johnstown with 34 years of service. He then worked another 5 years at Greystone House, Boswell and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He loved bowling and enjoyed playing poker, pool, pitching horseshoes, hunting, fishing and working outside. He also loved to watch all sports and was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He was a member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown and American Legion Post 461, Boswell. Vic had many friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Viewing from 11AM until time of service 1PM Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell with Vicar Allen Stump presiding. Interment Jennerstown Lutheran Cemetery.
