SENDEK – Verna L. (Dedik), 88, formerly of Jerome, died August 11, 2020 at Lutheran Home at Johnstown. Born April 7, 1932 in Boswell. Daughter of George, Sr. and Elizabeth (Miller) Dedik. Preceded in death by parents; husband Andrew J. Sendek on February 8, 1998; granddaughter Katie Marie Lischerelli; sisters Teresa Blucas and Agnes Dedik and brothers Stephen, George, Jr. and Walter Dedik. Survived by children Robert A. married to Anita (Faith), Richland; Barbara L. married to Richard Stiles, Coral Springs, FL, Vicki E. married to Richard Thompson, Jr. Westmont, Cindy A. married to Richard Lischerelli, Jerome and Anne J. married to Clifford “Kip” Plummer, II, Greensburg; grandchildren Bob Sendek, Jr., Tim Sendek and wife Michelle, Jessica Stiles Cafarelli and husband Chris, Cody and Wyatt Stiles, Michael Thompson and wife Adrienne, Elizabeth and Erin Lischerelli, Andrea Cleary and husband Ben and Alex Plummer; great grandchildren Olivia and Carter Sendek, Bryce and Blake Cafarelli, Sydney and Emmett Thompson, Dominic, Christian and Anthony Walters, Brody Lischerelli and Harper and Daxton Cleary (due in September); sister Virginia Ference, Greensburg; brother Robert Dedik, Boswell; sister-in-law Gloria Dedik, Boswell and numerous nieces and nephews. Verna loved life, cherished her family and could brighten any room with her infectious smile. She’s been reported by her sons-in-law as being the best mother-in-law one could have. She had a great love of music, singing and playing the piano. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking and making homemade family traditional meals. But most of all, she cherished the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verna was a member of former Holy Cross Catholic Church, Jerome and current member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville. The family would like to thank the Lutheran Home at Johnstown and their entire staff (“You all have beautiful teeth”), Dr. Thomas Ellenberger and Windber Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Verna. Viewing from 5-8PM Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held 7PM Friday. Funeral Mass 12PM Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. Aron Maghsoudi, Celebrant. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery, Jerome.
