Obituary for Vance D. "Tucker or Gop" Sloan

SLOAN – Vance D. “Tucker” or “Gop”, 85, Boswell, died April 13, 2019 at his home. Born September 16, 1933 in Johnstown. Son of Arthur J. and Esther J. (Ashcom) Sloan. Preceded in death by parents, brother Danny Sloan and brother-in-law Randy Payne. Survived by wife of 64 years Sara Grace (Blough) Sloan; daughter Linda married to Charlie Sheets, Davidsville and her son Paul Reilly and his wife Vicki and their son expected in July; daughter Pam married to Nick Direnzo, Hollsopple and her sons Brad Fisher and wife Tamera and their children Campbell, Bowen and Viola and Jason Fisher and his wife Mariah and their children Henry and Noah; son Robert and wife Angela (Hegadus), Boswell and their daughters Abby married to Alijah Petrilla and Sarah Sloan. Also survived by sister Nancy Payne. A U.S. Army veteran of Korean War having served in Alaska with the Army Engineers. He was owner/operator of Sloan Plumbing and Heating (established by his father) from 1963 until he retired in 1981. A member of the former Pleasantville Hunting Club and Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. In his younger years, Tucker enjoyed hunting, tinkering around on his Steiners, working in his shop creating unique treasures, snowmobiling and dirt biking. He also loved giving the dogs their treats and ear scratches. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and all Tucker’s caregivers. Tucker’s children would also like to thank their mother for loving and caring for their dad for 64 years. A private family viewing will be held. Following cremation, a private interment will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Boswell.
