BENEDICT – Thomas A, 74, of Carthage, NC, formerly of Dover and Somerset, died peacefully January 4, 2022 at his home in Carthage, NC. Born April 20, 1947, in Gray. Son of Stephen and Ida (Bost) Benedict. Preceded in death by parents, wife, Georgiann M. (Orlandi) Panek and siblings, Nancy and Steve. Survived by children, Jamie Homistek and husband Martin, Tiffany O’Neill and husband Brian, and Mark Benedict; stepson, Robert Panek and wife Mylin; grandchildren, Cody Homistek, Hunter Homistek and wife Nicole, Phillip O’Neill, Jeffrey O’Neill and William O’Neill and siblings, Delores Yoder and husband Lin, Richard Benedict and wife Barbara, Gary Benedict and wife Barbara and Robert Benedict and wife Donna. Tom was a 1965 graduate of former Jenner-Boswell High School and a proud US Navy and Vietnam War veteran as a Quartermaster. After the Navy, he went on to become a Master Plumber and HVAC technician. Life member of Somerset Post 554 VFW. During retirement and in his time off, Tom was an avid golfer, hunter and had a huge affinity for animals. In the fall, you could always catch him cheering for his Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions while offering colorful coaching advice from the comfort of his own home. He will be sorely missed by all. A graveside service will be held 11AM, Saturday May 28th at Holy Cross Cemetery, Jerome. Arrangements by Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Boswell.
