Obituary for Robert M. Werkmeister

WERKMEISTER – Robert M., Jr. “Bob” “Bobby”, 62, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2022 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born July 23, 1960 in Montoursville. Son of Robert, Sr. and Judith (Benn) Werkmeister. Preceded in death by father and grandparents, Helmuth “Fritz” and Mary (Roebuck) Werkmeister. Survived by wife and soul mate Ilene F. (Kauffman) Werkmeister whom he married December 23, 2006. Also survived by his mother of Montoursville; stepchildren, Heidi Sarver and husband Joshua of Thomas Mills, Adam Schropp and wife Desiree of Derry and Lisa Schropp and companion Branden Workman of Lock Haven; grandchildren, Abigail, Braden and Cierra Sarver and Casey Schropp; siblings, Teresa married to Donald Hill of Williamsport, Kevin Werkmeister and wife Amanda of Montoursville and Elizabeth married to Ricky Poste of Copperas Cove, TX; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and beloved dog, Ellie. Bob was a 1978 graduate of Montoursville Area High School where he played trumpet in the band. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was a Communications Equipment Specialist and earned the rank of Sergeant. Before his illness he was employed by L3 Harris as a Field Technician. He was a very active member of Benscreek Lutheran Church where he sometimes sang and played piano. He loved his Lord, his church and his church family. Bob was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. He enjoyed going to all his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, playing golf and piano and buying books for Ilene. He had a contagious sense of humor and a warm personality. He was an outgoing person and everyone that met him, loved him. Viewing from 5-8PM Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Wednesday at Benscreek Lutheran Church with Pastor Jonathan Adams presiding. Interment Thomas Mennonite Cemetery with military honors by Somerset County Honor Guard.
