Obituary for Richard L. "Dick" Drummond Sr.

DRUMMOND – Richard L., Sr. “Dick”, 86, of Hartville, OH, died January 27, 2023 in Ohio. Born August 29, 1936 in Boswell. Son of Melvin A., Sr. and Myrtle A. (Polk) Drummond. Preceded in death by parents; children, Wanda Ritenour, Vicky Bishop and Michael and Melvin Drummond; grandchildren, Heather and Kristy Drummond and James Hobba; sisters, Betty Drummond, Joan Jerin and Jane Boyer; brother, Melvin Drummond, Jr.; half-brother James Drummond and sons-in-law William Gray and Leonard Dye. Survived by wife of 67 years, Shelby J. (Burk) Drummond; children, Lonnie Dye and Rick Drummond; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren with one on the way; sisters, Peggy Beener, Nancy Gisbrecht and Pat Petrunak and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In his younger days, Dick served in the National Guard. He was a Foreman at General Motors, Allison Tank Division, and Boeing Aircraft and retired from Akron Air Products. He was also an entrepreneur and owned and operated Drummond Coal Company and several other businesses. He loved his wife dearly and enjoyed camping, going to bluegrass festivals, family reunions, picnics, spending time with family and friends, and attending his grandchildren’s events. Dick was also a member of the Assembly of God Church and loved the Lord. Viewing from 10AM until time of service 11AM Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville with Pastor Sam Coughenour presiding.
