Obituary for Raymond S. Yoder

YODER – Raymond S., 89, Davidsville, passed away January 7, 2023 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born October 14, 1933 in Johnstown. Son of Edward and Ethel (Thomas) Yoder. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 69 years, Amelia S. (Milkie) “Millie” Yoder on April 21, 2022 and brother, Donald Yoder. Survived by daughters, Catherine A. “Cathy” Deal and Linda J. and husband John M. Woodward, III and grandchildren, Theresa Deal and Kristy Burkett; great-grandchildren, Paige Deal and Michael Zyra. Ray was a graduate of Johnstown Mennonite School. As a conscientious objector during the Korean War he chose to volunteer at a mental health facility in Harrisburg. He was a retired Draftsman for Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown and Salay and Wheeler Cadillac, Johnstown. Following his retirement, he worked for Milkie’s Lawn & Garden, drove school bus for Mlaker Transportation and owned and operated Ray’s Sharpening Service. Member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, Davidsville. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling. Ray was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. Friends received from 11AM until time of service 1PM Friday, January 13 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville with Pastor Faron H. Johnson presiding.
