PENROD – Randy J., 68, Somerset, passed away March 31, 2023 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born September 19, 1954 in Johnstown, the son of John W. and Laura I. (St.Clair) Penrod. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Jerry Penrod and sister, Karen Penrod. Survived by wife of 42 years, Luann J. (Watkins) Penrod; daughter, Rana Holsopple; son, Jonathan Penrod and wife Angel; grandchildren, Owen Holsopple, Emmett Penrod and Riley Penrod; brothers, Barry, William and Robert Penrod; nephews, Clayton Penrod, Barry Penrod, Jr. and niece, Laura Lee Penrod. Randy was a 1972 graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in high school and served for seven years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired as a CW2. He helped his grandpa St. Clair and his uncle Dwight St.Clair on their dairy farm when he was young. Randy was employed in the steel industry in Johnstown and retired from SCI Somerset after working as an Auto Mechanic and Maintenance Instructor for 20 years. A member of the Beam Cemetery Board. He loved gardening and canning vegetables and fruits and he made his own sauerkraut, all of which he would share with friends and family. He loved family get-togethers where he would be the “grill master” cooking ribs, burgers and steaks. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a service will be held 1PM Wednesday with Rev. Dr. Joseph M. Beer presiding.
