Obituary for Randall J. Ickes

ICKES – Randall J., 65, Boswell, stepped into heaven July 26, 2022 at In-Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born September 25, 1956 in Johnstown. Son of Rev. Chauncey J. and Ruby (Horner) Ickes. Preceded in death by his father and daughter, Alivia J. Ickes. Survived by his mother; daughter, Alexa married Coultan Lucas; sons, Luke Zellem and wife Taylor and Logan Zellem; granddaughters, Luna Alivia Lucas and Isabel Zellem; sisters, Cathy Snoeberger, Laurel married to Richard Tinsmith, Susan Jack and Leslie Ickes; brothers, Bruce Ickes and wife Heather and Stephen Ickes and pet dog Bella. Randy was a 1974 graduate of North Star High School. He was a former employee of Somerset Med Services and was a self-employed landscaper. Member of Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle where he sang in the choir, assisted with vacation Bible school and played on the softball team. Randy was an avid amateur photographer and collector of antiques and old soda and milk bottles. He enjoyed being out in nature and was always willing to jump in any swimming hole, especially Blue Hole. He also liked traveling back roads and visiting covered bridges, listening to bluegrass music, singing hymns and was famous for his homemade root beer. He was care free and enjoyed the simple things in life and liked to make people laugh. The most important things to Randy were spending time with his family, being a loving father to his children and witnessing to others about the Lord (Ephesians 2:8-9). Friends received from 4-8PM Monday and from 10AM until time of service 11AM Tuesday at Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, near Jennerstown.
