HAMMER – Mona M., 89, of Somerset, died December 16, 2022 at UPMC East Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born July 19, 1933 in Johnstown. Daughter of the late David and Mildred (Georg) Hammer. Preceded in death by brothers, Duane and David; infant sister, Bertha and sister, Nancy Sheaffer. Survived by nieces and nephews, P. Bryan Sheaffer and wife Sue, Doug Sheaffer and wife Bernice, Brenda, Carol, Susan, Paul and David; cousins, John O’Connor, Pat Brown and Elsie Fetterman; sister-in-law Donna Hammer and special friends, Charlotte and Kay. Mona was a graduate of JBJ High School, Boswell and Indiana State Teachers College. Retired Elementary School Teacher in the North Star Schools with 36 years of service. Volunteer for Somerset County Meals on Wheels, Somerset Hospital Gift Shop and Camp Sequanota. Member of Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset and former longtime member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. Also a member of Retired Teachers Association. Friends received from 10AM until time of service 11AM Wednesday, December 28th at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell with Pastor Brenda Shaffer. Inurnment Mt.
