Obituary for Mary Jane Kozak (Hebda)

KOZAK – Mary Jane (Hebda), 83, of Jerome, passed away May 11, 2021 at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Born July 15, 1937 in Jerome, daughter of John and Mary A. (Oleszewska) Hebda. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth G. Kozak on March 23, 2007; sisters, Helen Tomera, Nellie Hyland, Genevieve Wallet, Anna Drzal and Florence Slezak; brothers, John, Henry, Ted, and Joseph Hebda and great-grandson, Nathan Neathamer. Mary Jane was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by children, Kenneth D. Kozak and wife Tereska, Ronald P. Kozak and wife Cathy and Karin married to Galen Beam; grandchildren, Alishia, Ashlee, Colleen (Joe), Ewelina (Mike), Gabriel and Sara; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Azaria, Zania, Aria, Nona Bell and Jayden. Mary Jane was a 1956 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. Was one of the original co-founders of St. Francis Sharing and Caring in Hollsopple. Former office manager of Berwind Railway in Windber. Former Postmaster for Jerome Post Office and past employee of Dorfman & Hoffman Garment Factory. Born first generation American, she was very proud of her Polish heritage and could speak the Polish language fluently. She also baked and decorated numerous beautiful wedding cakes for newlyweds in the area. Mary Jane was a wonderful cook of many dishes. She enjoyed surfing on the internet, paying her own bills online and being with her dogs, Remi and Suri. She was a life member of former Holy Cross Catholic Church and St. Anne Parish where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was able to make two trips to Europe and visit the ancestral home of her father in Wisniowa, Poland, which she very much enjoyed. She was a devout Catholic and patriotic pro-Trump and pro-life advocate. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed. In parting, she just wanted to tell everyone, “Do widzenia”- in Polish, meaning “Goodbye”. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a Vigil service will be held Friday afternoon. Funeral Mass 11AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville with Fr. Aron Maghsoudi, Celebrant. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery, Jerome.
