STERN – Mary Ann (Biondo), 98, Boswell, passed away peacefully August 12, 2021 at her home. Born February 20, 1923 in Somerset. Daughter of Dick Biondo and Victoria (Camaliti) Pronesti-Biondo. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 47 years, Earl L., Jr.; granddaughter Mariann Morgan; grandson Bradley Lynn Koontz; great-grandson Toby Stern; brothers, Nicholas Biondo, Frank, Joseph, Dominic, Michael, Angelo and Raphael “Sunny” Pronesti; sister, Mollie Arcail and numerous in-laws. Survived by children, Barbara married to Randall Koontz, Jenner Township; Roger married to Nancy (Hoffman), Boswell; Gerald at home; Cynthia married to Jim Kaufman, Jenner Township and Christopher, Boswell; grandchildren, Natalie (Koontz) married to Joseph Felix, Holly (Koontz) married to C.J. Morgante, Marcie Koontz and partner Sam Malcolm, Gretchen (Stern) married to Jason Ankeny, Matthew Stern married to Chelsey (Hoffman), Joshua Stern married to LeAndrea (Windsor), Daniel Stern married to Katie (Wells), Megan (Stern) married to Jeremy Simmons, Laura (Morgan) married to Bo Hagan, Nicholas Morgan married to Jolly (Pangilinan) and Alexandra Morgan; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Reckner, Boswell; brothers-in-law, Ernest Stern and wife Gloria, Quecreek and Marlin Stern and wife Emily, Davidsville; sisters-in-law, Ethel Stern, Everett and Thelma Stern, Stoystown and numerous other relatives. Mary Ann was a 1941 graduate of Boswell High School. A member of All Saints Catholic Parish and longtime member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Boswell and St. Joseph’s Altar Society. Past employee of the U.S. War Dept. in New York City during WWII, County Trust Bank, Somerset and Mary Lee Theater and Community National Bank, both of Boswell. She also owned and operated a dress shop in Boswell in the late 1940’s. Mary Ann loved her family above all else, but was especially fond of holding her great-grandchildren. A special thanks to the staff of Interim Hospice, especially the tender care afforded by her son-in-law, Jim Kaufman. Viewing from 4-8PM Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held 4PM Tuesday with Deacon Jay Pyle. Funeral Mass 1PM Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. Aron Maghsoudi, Celebrant. Committal Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Jennerstown.
