Obituary for Lorraine M. Glessner

GLESSNER - Lorraine M. (Henry), 99, of Jennerstown, went to be with her Lord on August 15, 2023, surrounded by her children, leaving a tremendous hole in the lives of those left behind. She was born September 9, 1923, in Amesville, PA and raised in Jenners, the daughter of Ernest G. Henry and Frances M. (Adams) Henry Whitfield. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Glessner; sisters, Elnora (Wayne) Clifton and Betty (Russell) Kupfner; brothers-in-law, Theodore “Bud” (Dorothy) Glessner and Richard “Dick” (Dorothy) Glessner; sons-in-law, David Nosworthy and Gary Scott and very special friends, Fred and Kay Speigle. Survived by loving children, Vonnie Scott, Judy (Tim) Fyock, Chuck (Amy) Glessner, and Kim (Steve) Brant; 6 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, whom she adored, and friend and caregiver, Mary Pridemore. One of Lorraine’s final wishes was to extend her heartfelt thanks to her children, who so lovingly cared for her, especially in her later years. Lorraine was a graduate of Boswell High School with a perfect attendance record for 12 years. She was married to her high school sweetheart, and they shared a wonderful life together until his passing in 2005. Her life revolved around caring for her family, especially her husband and children. She and her husband owned and operated The Wishing Well Motel, in Jennerstown, for more than 20 years, where they made many friends. She loved celebrating holidays with meals and picnics, joined by extended family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, reading cookbooks, and making rice bags. Lorraine will always be remembered as a generous, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was active in the 7th Society of Farm Women, a member of Trinity Chapter #138 Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. Memories of Lorraine’s witticisms and sense of humor will continue to spark laughter in her children and grandchildren. She was loved and cherished by those who knew her and her presence will be greatly missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 185, Jennerstown, PA 15547 or the charity of your choice. Viewing from 1PM until time of service 2PM Sunday at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Somerset with Pastor Michael A. Dunlap presiding. A meal will follow at the church.
