Obituary for Lester Ray "Pete" Naugle

NAUGLE – Lester Ray “Pete”, 90, Davidsville, went home to be with the Lord, December 23, 2020 at his home. Born February 16, 1930 in Soap Hollow. Son of Ralph and Stella (Yoder) Naugle. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 62 years Sara Jane (Penrod) Naugle on July 29, 2015 and brother Richard Naugle. Survived by son Dennis Naugle and wife Katherine, Hollsopple; daughter Debra married to Martin Mavrich, Pittsburgh; grandchildren Katie Naugle married to Joshua Galasso, Adam Naugle and wife Jordyn and Nathan and Hannah Mavrich; great grandchildren Hunter and Carson Galasso and Ava Naugle and twin sister Esther Mishler, Hollsopple. A 1949 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. While he was in high school, he owned and operated a gas station in Davidsville. He then worked at Penn Traffic Department Store in Johnstown where he met his wife Sara Jane. Afterwards, he was employed at Sani-Dairy for over 20 years. Following that he worked at Davidsville Fuel, McIlwain Bus Company and was an Insurance Agent for Lutheran Brotherhood. When he was 82 years old, he retired to provide care for his wife. He was a life member of St. David’s Lutheran Church, Davidsville where he served on the church council. In his spare time, Pete enjoyed gardening and in his younger days racing cars. He was a true patriot who never missed voting in an election. Pete was a selfless person who was deeply committed to his family and caring for others. Viewing from 10AM to noon Wednesday at St. David’s Lutheran Church with face coverings and social distancing. A private service will follow at noon with Pastor Faron H. Johnson presiding.
