ICKES – Leona M. (Leasock), 92, formerly of Boswell, passed away April 12, 2021 at The Patriot in Somerset. Born June 18, 1928 in Koonstown. Daughter of Michael and Anna (Carlson) Leasock. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 59 years, Wayne W. Ickes, with whom she shared the same birthdate, and twin sisters Lois Feldman and Betty Ann Leasock. Survived by sons, Wayne W., II married to Michelle (Frank) of Bedford, VA; William A. of Florence, SC; Lee D. married to Pam (Zias) of Champion, PA and Daniel K. married to Wanda Brewer Ickes of Windermere, FL; grandchildren, Ann, Erin, Matthew, Rachel, Kenna, Carli, Tori and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Mia, Ella Clare, Xavier, Trey, Damien, Juliana, Cora and Lucia and numerous nieces and nephews. Leona was a 1946 graduate of Boswell High School. Member of Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle where she was a soloist, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She loved gardening, antiquing, refinishing antique furniture, collecting glassware - especially Depression Era glass. She worked for former Villa Ann Candies, Jennerstown and sold Mary Kay Cosmetics. Leona enjoyed being in the kitchen baking, especially making pies and fruit cakes that she would give as gifts every year around Christmas. She also liked going on vacations every year and would plan them throughout the year. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
