DRANZIK - Kenneth Roman “Big Ken”, 54, of Hollsopple, went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2021 at UPMC Somerset Hospital with his loving wife by his side. He was born March 1, 1967, in Greensburg. He is preceded in death by his mother, Joanne (Ivory) Curry, his father-in-law, Gary Keefer, and many beloved aunts and uncles. Ken is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 19 years, Martha Keefer Dranzik, his beloved son, Benjamin Roman Dranzik, his father, Claude Dranzik, and his mother-in-law, Ruth Keefer. He also leaves behind his siblings, Brian Dranzik (Ann), Lois Long (Sameh Ghazaly), Keith Dranzik (MaryAnn), and Brenda Fanala (Steve). He was the uncle to several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving aunts and uncles. Ken was a 1985 graduate of Greensburg-Salem High School, where he was a wrestler, football player, and threw shot put and discus. He then went on to Slippery Rock University, where he played football, and graduated in 1990 with a B.S. in computer science and a minor in special education. Ken was the manager of the Quemahoning Family Recreation Area. He was blessed by being a part of the ministry of Summer’s Best Two Weeks, where he served as a counselor, volunteer, and has been an integral part of the SB2W Camp at the Que. In the 1990’s, Ken mentored young men as a counselor at Adelphoi Greystone House. He volunteered since he was a teenager with Special Olympics Westmoreland County. He also volunteered with the state Special Olympics Pennsylvania Winter Games. Recently, he volunteered as the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 2114 in Davidsville, where he proudly got to see Ben achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Ken was a member of Emmanuel Church in Johnstown. He loved being on the water, including whitewater rafting and sailing. He also enjoyed hunting, photography, and just being outside in God’s creation. He also had the biggest heart. If someone needed help, he never hesitated to offer whatever he could. A private ceremony will be held later this week. A public celebration of his life will be held at the Quemahoning Family Recreation Area in late spring or early summer 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boy Scout Troop 2114 through First National Bank, 110 South Main Street, Davidsville, PA 15928, or Special Olympics Pennsylvania online at https://specialolympicspa.org.
