Obituary for Kenneth E. "Ken" Blough

BLOUGH – Kenneth E. “Ken”, 87, of Davidsville, went to be with the Lord February 18, 2023 at Windber Hospice surrounded by his family. Born December 27, 1935 in Stoystown. Son of Vernon L. and Arvilla (Foy) Blough. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Geraldine Rayman and Laura Miller and brothers, Robert “Bob”, Ernest, Telford “Jake” and Glenn “Butch”. Survived by loving wife of 65 years, Janet E. (Speicher) Blough; children, Mark (Darla), David (Kimberly) and Pam Jenkins (Harry “Butch”); sister, Dorothy Humphrey; sisters-in-law, Judy Blough, Nancy Blough, Pat Wilco, Lois Wright, Shirley Reese, Ruth Hagens and Delores Law and husband Jim; grandchildren, Angel Maxwell (Matt), Matthew Jenkins (Tera), Harry Jenkins (Logan), Michael Jenkins (Beth), Teresa Weymer (Jim) and Cheyenne Blough. Ken was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren and was loved by many other family and friends. He attended Shade High School. He was owner and operator of Oaks Poultry, Hooversville for 39 years and was blessed to work alongside his wife, Janet. Ken volunteered his time to many organizations over 57 years. He was a member of Hooversville Lions Club and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship. He was co-founder of Somerset Blind Center and an original investor in Laurel View Village, Davidsville. He had a steadfast faith in the Lord and was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Hooversville. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, taking long walks, was a passionate hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed push mowing his grass. He was known as a generous, lighthearted and compassionate soul, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved the simple things in life and spending time with his family. As so many can attest, Ken was someone who loved to help those in need. He was a man of service who left many marks in this world. He will be greatly missed by his loving nieces, nephews and friends and will always be remembered in their hearts. But most of all, Ken deeply loved his Janet. Viewing from 2-8PM Friday, February 24 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Saturday, February 25 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Hooversville with Pastor Nila Cogan presiding. Interment Berkey Cemetery, Windber.
