Obituary for Kathy A. Bailie

BAILIE - Kathy A. (Kaufman), 63, of Thomas Mills, passed away April 18, 2023 at her home. Born November 5, 1959 in Johnstown, the daughter of Galen M. and Sarah L. (Berkey) Kaufman. Preceded in death by her father; nephew, Sawyer Ritter and brother-in-law, Keith Ritter. Survived by mother, Sarah “Sally” Kaufman, Thomas Mills; sister, Tammie Ritter, Sterling, VA and brother, David Kaufman and wife Melissa, Jackson, WY and nephews, Carson, Eli and Daniel Kaufman, all of Wyoming. Kathy was a 1977 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School. Following graduation, she attended Wilma Boyd Career School in Pittsburgh. Upon completion, she worked in the travel industry for a time prior to moving to Florida in 1980. There, she continued her travel adventures working with private charter and hot air balloon companies as an administrative manager. She enjoyed her condo along the canal and spent days exploring the Keys and enjoying the beach. Being an avid NASCAR fan took her to several of the state’s race tracks and although she rooted for the Miami Dolphins while there, she was a diehard “Stiller” fan through and through. Kathy enjoyed going to music shows and concerts and was always one to be dancing away. Events in her life had her return to PA in the early 2000’s where she worked at various customer service and office administrative positions. Kathy was a very caring, giving, fun loving and adventurous woman who brought a lot of joy into the lives of those she befriended. She was baptized at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren and knew her God through the love of His Son, Jesus Christ. She now sings and dances with the saints. She will be dearly and forever missed. The family will receive friends from 5PM until 9PM, Tuesday, April 25 at the Kaufman home at 1771 Saylor School Road, Boswell to honor and share memories of Kathy. A brief service will be held at 6:30PM with Pastor Bill Wenger presiding. Planning on being outside for the most part, weather permitting, so please bring a chair.
