STRAKA – John S., Jr., 93, Boswell, died November 11, 2020 at Country Manor Living, Jerome. Born July 12, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant. Son of John, Sr. and Anna M. (Mriglud) Straka. Preceded in death by parents; infant siblings Mary Ann, William and James; brothers Joseph and Ben and sister Louise “Honey Girl” Lintz. Survived by wife of 68 years Shirley (Clark) DeLuca Straka; sons John and wife Ruth Ann, Terry and wife Jill and Paul and wife Lynda; grandchildren Lindsey, Terra (Brady), Stephanie (Tyler), Jack, Olivia, Andrew and Emma; great-grandchildren Brody, Marley, Cayson and Camden; sister Anna Carosi; brother David (Stella) and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A 1946 graduate of former Boswell High School. Served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan. Owner/Operator of Straka Auto Body, Boswell for 38 years. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish. Very active member of Boswell Lions Club for many years. Also a member of Boswell Post 461 American Legion and Johnstown Symphony Choir. Longtime organist at former St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jenners. Also served as co-organist for 18 years at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hooversville. The family would like to thank the staff of Country Manor Living for the tender care given John. Due to Covid a private family viewing will be held Friday. However, family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass 11AM Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. Aron Maghsoudi, Celebrant. Committal Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Jennerstown with military honors by Somerset County Honor Guard.
