SHAFFER – John E., 88, Jerome, passed away July 7, 2022 at Meyersdale Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Born April 9, 1934 in Thomasdale. Son of Lester “Fat” and Ruth (Spiker) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 64 years, Patsy R. (Hay) Shaffer on October 17, 2021; sons, John Michael Shaffer and Bruce Edward Shaffer; brothers, Sonny, Lester, Zane and Claire Shaffer; sister, Stella Edmiston and great-granddaughter Tezmurai Shaffer. Survived by grandsons, Bruce Shaffer, Rockwood and John Shaffer, Monroeville; great-granddaughter, Haley Shaffer, Adel, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Linda McGinley, Melcroft; Mary Shaffer, Georgia and Pat Shaffer, Listie and good friends and neighbors Missy Davis and Allysa Bumbarger. John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired Electrician for Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown. Member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple; Jerome and Ferndale Sportsmen and Hollsopple VFW. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
