KALTENBAUGH – Joan J. (Horwat), 79, Ralphton, died November 14, 2018. Born July 30, 1939 in Jerome. Daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (Michlo) Horwat. Preceded in death by parents; daughter Dana M. Buchanan; son Gary M. Kaltenbaugh; brother Paul “Butch” Horwat and former husband Daniel E. Kaltenbaugh, Sr. Survived by sons Daniel E., Jr. married to Roslynn (Strasiser), Combined Locks, WI; Christian F. married to Rhonda (Shearer), Buffalo, NY and Stephen A. married to Lisa (Buratty), Friedens; grandchildren Randall Buchanan Kaltenbaugh (Brittany); Matt Kaltenbaugh (Ann); Jessica Earle (John); Brittany Moore (Sam); Mitchell Kaltenbaugh (Brittany); Hannah Kaltenbaugh (Jordon); Daniel Kaltenbaugh, III; Caden and Peyton Kaltenbaugh; great-grandchildren Gary and Everly Kaltenbaugh and soon to arrive Ivy Jo Earle; sisters Annamarie married to Larry Millinder, Soap Hollow and Susan married to Richard Restagno, West Mifflin; brother Stephen and wife Alyce, Columbus, OH; sister-in-law Regina S. (Kowal) Horwat, Verona and daughter-in-law Michelle L. (Carpenter) Kaltenbaugh; numerous nieces and nephews and good friend “Sis” Kay Rohrer, Somerset. A 1957 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. A 1960 graduate of Conemaugh Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse for Somerset Hospital, Somerset State Hospital, Laurel Highlands State Correctional Facility and Boswell Medical Associates. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish. She fulfilled many roles in her lifetime, including a nurse, a mother, and a caretaker. However, the role she filled with the most love was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She radiated pride of her family but especially her grandchildren. She was always finding opportunities to see and support her family. Joni seldom missed a sporting event, a recital, a school dance, a graduation, or a wedding. Her greatest joys came from reading novels in the sunshine, enjoying a good cake with friends, and providing unconditional love to her family. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach and doing water aerobics. Viewing from 2-8PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a vigil for the deceased will be held 4PM Sunday. Funeral Mass 11AM Monday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. Aron Maghsoudi, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Gary M.
