Obituary for Joan C. Golden

GOLDEN - Joan C. (Stephenson), 92, Davidsville, went peacefully to be with her Lord December 2, 2021 at Windber Hospice. Born July 18, 1929 in Hollsopple. Preceded in death by mother, Julia (Cotchen) Stephenson. Survived by loving husband of 68 years, John J. Golden; her 6 children, MaryAnn Golden, Davidsville; Joseph Golden, Hollsopple; Lorraine married to Paul Kazmierczyk, Grazier; Carole married to Gregory Cable, Davidsville; Janette married to James Gruss, Hooversille and John Golden married to Leah (Dawson), Scott Depot, WV; grandchildren, Sara Golden, Paul and Adam Kazmierczyk, Joshua Cable, Julia Dello, Jennifer Cable, Jimmy, Alayna and Leah Gruss and Brody Golden; 7 great-grandchildren; dear sister-in-law Helen Cotchen and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was a 1947 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School where she served as class valedictorian. She worked devotedly for many years as the secretary at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Benscreek, most of those years alongside Monsignor Joseph Fleming. Prior to that, she was a bookkeeper at Grant’s Department Store, Johnstown and the Johnstown Moose Lodge. A member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville. Joan was a world traveler and also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and doing crossword puzzles. Above all, she valued her role as a wife and homemaker to her family, who will miss her dearly. With Joan’s deep love of Christmas, it seems only appropriate that she passed into the next life at this beautiful time of year. The family would like to thank Windber Hospice for their generous support. Viewing from 5-8PM Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held 5PM Monday. Funeral Mass 10AM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville with Rev. Fr. Karl Kolodziejski, Celebrant. Committal St. Anne Cemetery, Hollsopple.
