Obituary for Jeffrey Alan "J.J." Mort Jr.

MORT – Jeffrey Alan, Jr. “J.J.”, 34, Hooverville, died January 22, 2019 in Southport, NC. Born October 29, 1984 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by grandparents Harry Henry, Jr., Mahala Henry and Marlyn Mort; uncles Vernon Henry and Ronald Mort and cousins Jennifer Knipple and Joshua Hoover. Survived by mother Mylene (Henry) married to Sam Kendall; father Jeffrey A. Mort and fiancé LeeAnn Berkey; children Alexandria Mort and Keagan Beaner; grandmother Betty Mort; sister Brandi married Daniel Lieb; 9 nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A 2003 graduate of Bishop McCort High School. He attended Allegheny Community College. A First Class Fireman for St. Michael’s Volunteer Fire Dept., Station 84. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Hooversville. A self-employed contractor. J.J. was an avid weight lifter and enjoyed being outdoors, snowboarding with his daughter, hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished bowler having been one of the youngest to achieve a perfect 300 score. He received recognition from the National Bowling Association and Terrace Lanes in Somerset placed his picture on their wall in honor of his accomplishment. He was always willing to help someone in need; had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. J.J. touched and turned the key of everyone’s heart whom he met. Viewing from 2-8PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Funeral Mass 11AM Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hooversville with Rev. Fr. Karl Kolodziejski and Rev. Fr. Brian Warchola concelebrants. Committal Maple Spring Cemetery, near Jerome. A celebration of life brunch will follow at the church hall.
