Obituary for Eugene R. "Gene" Pritts Sr.

PRITTS - Eugene R. “Gene”, Sr., 85, of Woodstown, went to be with Jesus, February 26, 2023 at his home. Born November 10, 1937 in Jenners. Son of the late David M. and Louise (Shaulis) Pritts. Survived by wife of 66 years, Annie Lou (Blough) Pritts, who lovingly and faithfully cared for him; sons, Gene, Jr. and wife Maureen (Burns), Johnstown and David, Warrenton, VA; daughters Cyndi, married to David Shaulis, Woodstown and Lei Lani, married to John Dibert, Duncan, SC; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, with four more arriving in 2023; loving brothers, RJ, Roger and Paul and sister Linda Jack, who was a selfless caregiver until Gene graduated to heaven. Gene was a 1955 graduate of JBJ Joint High School, Boswell. He came to Christ as a teenager and was a member of Emmanuel Church, Johnstown where he served as a lifelong Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and student of God's Word. A former employee of Boswell Lumber Company. He retired from Latrobe Steel after 38 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, singing, camping, golfing and traveled all fifty states and several overseas countries. Known in recent years as "mean Gene, the putting machine” at Oakbrook Golf Course in Stoystown. Gene was the life of the party, an amazing story-teller, generous and kind, and a great husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend. The family would like to thank Conemaugh Hospice for their instrumental help and loving care, going above and beyond to care for the whole family. Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8PM Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Friends also received from 10AM until time of service 11AM Saturday at Emmanuel Church with Gene’s grandsons, Pastor Nathaniel Shaulis and Pastor Christian Dibert, presiding.
