OBER - Eugene E., “Gene”, 96, Trophy Club, TX, formerly of Johnstown, died June 29, 2023 in Trophy Club. Born May 11, 1927 in Johnstown. Son of Harry E. and Blodwen (Ellis) Ober. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Dorothy J. (Martin) Ober, formerly of Boswell, and siblings Winnie, David, John, Patricia and Arlene. Survived by son, Craig A. Ober, married to Holly (Black), Trophy Club, TX and their children Brandon, Bethany, and Bryce; daughter, Cynthia O., married to Bruce Ravel, Mendham, NJ and their children, Natalie and Matthew and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was a 1945 graduate of Westmont High School. Following high school, he served in the US Navy as a seaman, first class. After his initial discharge, he re-enlisted as part of a basketball recruitment tour around Ohio, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. He worked in Parkersburg and Huntington, WV as a salesman for National Cash Register Co. He also lived in Chatham, NJ where he worked as a salesman for D. Ober Associates of Union, NJ. He moved to Florida for his retirement where he lived in Satellite Beach, Fort Myers and Largo. Gene enjoyed golfing and home improvement projects. His kind positive spirit and can-do energy was a blessing to all who knew him. Memorials may be made in Gene’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
