Obituary for Emma Louise Thomas

THOMAS - Emma Louise (Erisman), 98, Jenner Township, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2023. She was the third of 11 children born to George S. and Emma L. (Krause) Erisman on February 6, 1925 in Morrellville. Preceded in death by parents, husband of 37 years, Raymond D. Thomas, son, Dennis R. “Skinner” Thomas, daughter, Sally Thomas, brothers, George A., George S., Charles, Richard and Kenneth Erisman, sisters, Martha Lape and Emily Krause and son-in-law, William Parks. Survived by children, Beverly Parks, Clifford Thomas (Diana) and Connie Zanoni (Brian); grandchildren, Jonathan Zanoni and Cassandra Tomlinson; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Sierra, Liam, Westyn and Delaney Zanoni; brothers, William, James and Jack Erisman and numerous nieces and nephews. Emma was a 1945 graduate of Westmont Upper Yoder High School. An active member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple since 1949 where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, Women’s Fellowship and the church choir. Also a member of the Auxiliary to the former Church of the Brethren Home, Windber and the former Seventh Society of Farm Women of Somerset County where she served as treasurer for many years. Emma was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. On summer Saturday evenings, Jennerstown Speedway was her favorite place to be. She climbed 16 steps so she could see more than the roofs on the front stretch, keeping her eye on Zach Todaro. She enjoyed designing and sending greeting cards for her friends, family and church family. She also was passionate about Shaklee Food Supplements and nutrition. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family; she never missed any of her grandchildren’s events. Viewing from 5-8PM Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Saturday at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren with Pastor William Wenger presiding. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery.
