SZEWCZYK (Sheftic) – Edward V., 75, Somerset, died March 7, 2023 at his home. Born April 29, 1947 in Johnstown. Son of Edward C. and Kathryn B. (Baraniak) Szewczyk. Preceded in death by parents and brother-in-law Dennis Leyman. Survived by sisters, Linda K. Kopec and companion Tom Kane and Martha L. Leyman; nephew, Jason Villa and wife Tara; great-nephews, Cole and Tyler Villa and numerous cousins. Ed was a 1965 graduate of Jenner-Boswell High School and a 1969 graduate of West Virginia University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He then graduated from the University of Miami Law School. Ed was a longtime employee of Peoples Bank/First Commonwealth until his retirement. He was an avid fan of West Virginia University sports, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers and was a longtime Steelers season ticket holder. A service will be announced at a later date.
