Obituary for Doris I. Shaffer

SHAFFER - Doris I. (Holsopple), 90, formerly of Hooversville, went home to be with the Lord March 12, 2023 at Rest Assured Living Center in Meyersdale. Born September 4, 1932 in Quemahoning Twp., Somerset County. Daughter of Lemon and Erma (Blough) Holsopple. Preceded in death by parents, and husband Floyd W., Sr. on April 13, 2017 and sister-in-law Betty Holsopple. Survived by sons Dwight W., Boswell, Marvin W. and friend Douglas, Hooversville, Richard A. married to former Gloria Edmonson, Martins Ferry, OH and Floyd, Jr. married to former Rebecca Kister, Hollsopple; grandchildren, Dwight Patrick Shaffer, Jessica married to Bradley Naugle, Christopher Shaffer and husband Steven, Erin married to Allen Miller, Corey Shaffer and wife Ami, Michael Mackonas and wife Amanda and Emily Gavel and friend Craig; great-grandchildren, Katie and Joshua Shaffer, Alison, Shelby and Maggie Naugle, Bruston Shaffer, Alexis Whipkey, Zachary Miller, Ariana Shaffer and Harper, Hayden and Hannah Mackonas; great-great grandchild, Finley Shaffer; sister, Helen married to Howard Hildebrand, Hollsopple; brother, Leon Holsopple, Hollsopple and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a past employee of Bestform Co., Geistown and Whistler’s Garment Factory, Hollsopple. Along with her husband Floyd, she also helped work on the family farm. Member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple where she was Sunday School Secretary. She enjoyed shopping, square dancing, camping, boating and water skiing. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was friendly to everyone she met. She loved the Lord and her faith carried her through some very difficult times. Viewing from 5-8PM Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services , 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a service will be held 11AM Friday with Pastor Guy Myers presiding.
