Obituary for David A. Lohr

LOHR – David A., 87, Jenner Township, Somerset County, died December 17, 2019 at In-Touch Hospice, Somerset. Born December 7, 1932 in Jenner Township. Son of Lester J. and Gladys (Ayers) Lohr. Preceded in death by parents; sisters Frances McIntyre, Susan Lohr and Florence Brockunier and brothers Lester, Robert and William Lohr. Survived by wife of 60 years Betty J. (Ashby) Lohr; son Kevin married to Linda (Kenetski) Lohr, Wilmington, DE; grandchildren Alyssa, Gabriel, Edan and Logan and numerous nieces and nephews. David was a 1950 graduate of JBJ Joint High School, Boswell. He attended Middle Tennessee State University and Evansville College in Indiana. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a long time employee of Marsolino Construction Company as a Job Foreman for strip mining and construction. A member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. In his free time, David flew a small plane and maintained an airstrip near his home. After that, he and his wife purchased a house boat and cruised the Intracoastal Waterway. David’s mission in life could be best expressed in the verse from the prophet Micah 6:8, “What doth the Lord require of thee but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.” He cared deeply about loving his neighbor and he regularly visited those who were sick or in need of help. Friends received from 1PM until time of service 2PM Saturday, January 11 at Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church.
