Obituary for David Kenneth "Bucky" Alwine

ALWINE - David Kenneth “Bucky”, 80, of Somerset, passed peacefully at In-Touch Hospice, Somerset on February 7, 2021. Born June 29, 1940 in Johnstown the son of Emil H. Alwine and Vivian (McCoy) Alwine. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Phillip Eugene Alwine and sister, Elsie Theresa Knapp. Survived by children, Christine A. Paige (Robert), Delray Beach, FL; Kenneth A., Greenville, SC and Andrea J. Friedline (Rick), Somerset; grandchildren, Allyson M. Paige, Miami, FL; Robert F. Paige, Jr., Delray Beach, FL; Jacob A. Alwine, Greenville, SC; Lyndsay Friedline Storms, Wilson, NC; Ryan M. Friedline, Farmington; Corey A. Friedline, Somerset; greatgrandchildren, Griffin and Evelyn Storms, Wilson, NC; siblings, Donna Ragland, Cross Junction, VA; Linda Johnson, Somerset and Charles Alwine, Coalton, WV and former wife, Georgianna (Denk) Alwine, Somerset. Dave was a man of strong faith and served as an usher at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Somerset for many years. He enjoyed socializing with friends as a member of several local service and sportmen’s clubs, including Somerset Post 554 VFW, Somerset Post 181 American Legion, Somerset Post 1801 FOE, Jenner Rod & Gun Club and Ferndale Sportsmen’s Club. Dave was a hard worker who was able to drive anything and fix almost anything. He worked several jobs over the course of his life, but seemed to most enjoy his many years as a long-haul tractor-trailer driver, as it brought him opportunities to visit nearly every state in the U.S. As per Dave’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Inurnment Benshoff Hill Cemetery, Johnstown. A memorial mass and a picnic for family and friends to celebrate his life, will be scheduled at a later date.
